1. We are comparing Yahoo and Google. 

2. Google handled the search better. The information is easier to read and is organized in a simpler way. Google gives visual representations and is more aesthetically pleasing. Yahoo gives the same information but you have to search harder for what you want from it. There is clustering in both search engines, they are both clustered by basic info about the search, top stories involving the search, and other relevant topics or follow-up questions. 

3. Google offers better precision, with the search prompt “Oregon State University,” the top result for Google shows the University’s website and clusters the basic information one might want about it as well as using relevant images. When searching the same thing on Yahoo, the first four searches are not relevant to Oregon State, with the University’s website being the fifth result to pop up on the page. The first information pulled up on OSU on Yahoo is for Shawnee State University, which is a completely different university in a completely different state. From these observations, it is likely that good has better precision when comparing the two. 

4. If you used the formula for comparing recall, I think you could determine which search engine offers better recall. You would have to search and sort through the relevant and irrelevant results brought up by both search engines and do some calculations though. From a first glance and simple observation, it appears that Google has both better recall and better precision than Yahoo.
